UB's researchers develop a tool to evaluate perceptions on societal resilience for NATO UB's researchers develop a tool to evaluate perceptions on societal resilience for NATO ========================================================================================= CIVIS Highlights 7 Μαΐου 2024 The University of Bucharest has unreeled, during the past four years, a research programme on societal resilience in the face of a broad array of challenges, including crises, shocks and destabilising evolution, both internally, as well as externally. The pilot was discussed at the plenary meeting of the NATO Civil Protection Group, at their headquarters in Brussels, in mid April. Representatives of the University of Bucharest attended as special guests. ![](/storage/files/image00001.jpeg) ©UB Developed in collaboration with the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Centre in Bucharest and coordinated by Professor Dragoș – Paul Aligică, this innovative approach to applied research was considered by the authorities and experts of the transatlantic organisation as relevant for NATO's agenda and for all member and partner countries. The results presented in Brussels reflect the engagement and contribution of Romania in promoting strategic partnerships, thus consolidating the commitment of the University of Bucharest for high quality research: > *The participation of the University of Bucharest to the plenary meeting of NATO civil Protection Group was a moment that marked, once again, the international recognition of the quality of our research and our contribution to developing concepts and societal resilience applied analyses. This prototype of an evaluation instrument of social perceptions concerning societal resilience offers a significant contribution to the evaluation and improvement of the capacity for protection in front of risks and challenges, at national and international level, reflecting once again the practical applicability of the research undertaken by our experts for public policies and decisions"*, said the Rector of the University of Bucharest, Professor Marian Preda, PhD. About the event --------------- The event in Brussels brought together representatives of all NATO countries and partners and was dedicated to the evolution and developments in the field of resilience at the level of NATO.
